Colorado Elk Hunt ...

Well, my husband and son have arrived at the place they call elk camp up the Wolf Creek Pass into the San Juan Mts. of Colorado. Took them almost 40 hours to get there this year. 11 fella's are hunting today. Some for the first time, others for their 20th time. This is my hub's first time out. Said the ride about did him in. But the things he has seen thus far! Here are some pics from last year's camp.

The fella here is my soon to be In-law.

Last year they came home with 3 elk and a bear.
What will they be blessed with this year?
Lord, just keep them safe.

The Bear has arrived! ...

Now that is one gorgeous piece of fur ...
Congrats son ...

The New Ride ...

My oldest son decided to get a new ride for himself. My how times have changed here on Cove Lane. Had his first big run in the mud today. Came home covered head to toe in mud and water with THE biggest grin on his face like none I have seen in sometime. Did my heart good to see him with such a happy smile on his face like that. He really enjoyed himself. My other son was along too. This was my oldest's first time out 4wheeling. The boys took some video. I need to learn how to upload video to youtube or such. I will work on that. My, what boy don't like playing in the mud? No matter what his age! And, yes, of course the doggies were chasing him around the yard! And, yes, of course Mom got to go for a spin, wheww-hoo!

My what muddy boys!!!

My oldest son is on the left and their buddy is on the right.

This is my younger son under all that mud.
I am sure there is another big grin under that helmet!

What a day they had for sure!

Lazy Days at the Cottage ...

If you have wondered what I've been doing lately ...

Looking upstream along the Raystown Branch of the Juniata ...

Looking downstream on the river ...
someone got to my sweetie's spot before he did so

he fished right in front of the cottage ...
Of course after fishing you have to let the 'kids' in the water!
like I said before - coffee just tastes so good
while setting on the porch of the cottage ...

So instead of blogging alot, this is what I've been doing
for we needed to get away from doing this big job ...
Tension has been tight since 'sweetie' decided to put siding
on our home. Great idea, love the color, looks wonderful,
but couldn't have we paid someone to do it? (NO!)
So slow it goes, not much motorcyle riding neither.
Sweetie needed to get away from this for while so we
headed to the cottage ... I can smell the coffee still ...

Walking on Rails-to-Trails ...

Went for a walk over the weekend
on the Rails-to-Trails in my area.
Old Railroad tracks are
converted into
walking, hiking, and biking
trails for families to enjoy.

Most areas are nice and flat
with a fine, fine gravel dirt on them.
But the views are eye catching ...

On a hot summer day ...

You've got to
cool off the dogs ....

Dakota & Bella ...
All Bella wanted to
do was drink the water
but Dakota enjoyed
his sit down!

Road Kill ~~

My Oldest son is a Trapper.
He and I went for a motorcycle ride the other day
and look what we found on the road.
A Weasel ...
They are hard to trap, let alone even see one
in the woods ... but
this poor fella got it's head squished
on the road ...
the fur is gorgeous actually ...
they turn white with a black tipped tail
in the winter time.

my new riding buddy ~~

Cruising around Central PA with my son!
These are his new wheels!
There is nothing like cruisin'
around back roads on a bright,
sunny day with family.
My husband and I have our own
motorcycles and now our
oldest son has joined us.

First day of trout 2007 ...

The weather was not the best for the first day of Trout in PA,
but it could have been worse!

Here is a native brown trout fingerling that was put back to grow bigger for a few years ...
they are one of the most beautiful fish of God's creation.

Here is a nice 18" trout my fishing buddy caught ...
