Walking in the Winter Woods ...

Bella and Dakota with their new Cabela's chest protectors.
We really like them and recommend them, even if you just walk
your dog on the street. They are highly visible and reflective.
The dogs both got their paws in fox traps. Before we could
see what they were smelling, bang, and then the howling started.
I am all for the hunters and trappers but there needs to be some
type of flag to alert those hunting or walking in the woods
with dogs. This is not the first time, nor will it be the last.
I am just thankful that they outlawed the traps with the
teeth. That would have been awful for sure.
No birds to report or bunnies.

Rabbit season's just around the corner ...

This little bunny can hide now but not for long. The dogs will smell him out if the owl's don't get to him first. Seems like a lot of rabbit's around this year. Hunting might be good!

Annie - get your gun!

Sure smells good outside!

Colorado Elk Hunt ...

Well, my husband and son have arrived at the place they call elk camp up the Wolf Creek Pass into the San Juan Mts. of Colorado. Took them almost 40 hours to get there this year. 11 fella's are hunting today. Some for the first time, others for their 20th time. This is my hub's first time out. Said the ride about did him in. But the things he has seen thus far! Here are some pics from last year's camp.

The fella here is my soon to be In-law.

Last year they came home with 3 elk and a bear.
What will they be blessed with this year?
Lord, just keep them safe.

The Bear has arrived! ...

Now that is one gorgeous piece of fur ...
Congrats son ...

The New Ride ...

My oldest son decided to get a new ride for himself. My how times have changed here on Cove Lane. Had his first big run in the mud today. Came home covered head to toe in mud and water with THE biggest grin on his face like none I have seen in sometime. Did my heart good to see him with such a happy smile on his face like that. He really enjoyed himself. My other son was along too. This was my oldest's first time out 4wheeling. The boys took some video. I need to learn how to upload video to youtube or such. I will work on that. My, what boy don't like playing in the mud? No matter what his age! And, yes, of course the doggies were chasing him around the yard! And, yes, of course Mom got to go for a spin, wheww-hoo!

My what muddy boys!!!

My oldest son is on the left and their buddy is on the right.

This is my younger son under all that mud.
I am sure there is another big grin under that helmet!

What a day they had for sure!
